While traveling in Japan we were dazzled by the seemingly endless array of colorful towels that were in little shops and in peoples homes. The uses for "tengui" are numerous, hand towel, headband/bandanna, light duty kitchen towel, casual decoration or a more formal art piece that is displayed in a traditional tokonoma (Japanese living room alcove).
In our opinion the best use for these beautiful textiles is as an art piece that is hung between a special tengui holder(sold separately). The styles we have curated range from elegant to whimsical. However you choose to use your tengui, we are sure it will bring a smile to your face as it does to us every time we see ours.
